Police Headquarters Deputy Inspector General (DIG-Operations) Anwar Hussain said a total of 174,000 policemen would be assigned to election duties, while 80,000 have already started their duties. The remaining 94,000 members will be deployed at polling stations three days before the elections.
He elaborated that at least 24,000 policemen would be deployed in the capital city alone. Election duties include ensuring security in the office of the Returning Officer, the office of the Assistant Returning Officer, transporting ballot papers and ballot boxes to the polling stations and providing security to the polling stations.
