200 broad gauge coaches will come from India: Railway Minister

The minister said that once the coaches are received, Bangladesh Railways will take the initiative to determine the routes for operating the new trains. He also said that with the arrival of these coaches, it will be possible to increase the number of intercity train services on some routes.

Answering a starred question from treasury bench lawmaker Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain (Bogura-4), Rabiul Alam said there are currently 3,428.09 kilometers of railway tracks across the country. Of this, 1,591.43 km are meter gauge, 1,066.60 km are broad gauge and 770.06 km are dual gauge.
