37 cases in Dhaka, 1,544 accused
According to information provided by the media wing of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), 9 new cases were registered the day after the clash and strike centered around the BNP rally. 594 persons have been made accused in these cases. Overall, 37 cases have been recorded in Dhaka during the two days. These cases involve 1,544 named accused persons, as well as additional unidentified accused.
The list of accused not only includes Mirza Fakhrul but also prominent BNP leaders like Mirza Abbas, Amir Khasru Mahmood Choudhary, Gayashwar Chandra Roy, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Abdul Awal Mintu, Barkatullah Bulu, Zainul Abedin Farooq, Joynal Abedin, Ahmed Azam Khan. Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Shamsuzzaman, Altaf Hussain Chowdhury, Shahjahan Omar, Mehboob Uddin Khokon, and many others.
BNP claims that after Saturday’s incident, police raided the residences of party leaders and members of various ranks in various districts of the country, including the homes of five top leaders in Dhaka.
Meanwhile, based on information received from the court, the DMP produced 168 persons in the court following their arrest the previous day. After this the court ordered to send him to jail.
