An “Order and Discipline Committee” has been set up to provide recommendations on recruitment, transfers and discipline within the police force, especially for ranks such as SP (Superintendent of Police), DIG (Deputy Inspector General) and higher levels.
Lieutenant General (retd) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Choudhary, advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs and Agriculture, will chair this seven-member committee. The members include Dr Asif Nazrul, Advisor to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Ministry of Overseas Welfare and Overseas Employment; Asif Mahmood Sajib Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperation and Ministry of Youth and Sports; Mohammad Khoda Bakhsh Choudhary, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor; home Secretary; Inspector General of Police; and Brigadier General (Retd) Dr M. Sakhawat Hussain, Advisor to the Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Labor and Employment, who will serve as Member Secretary.
The Home Ministry will provide secretarial assistance. The notification mentioned that the committee can obtain information from the concerned offices as per requirement.
