The minister said 8,340 people have taken shelter in Chattogram, while 126 people are staying in shelters in Rangamati, 1,755 people in Khagrachari and 2,173 people in Bandarban.
Dulu said the government initially allocated Tk 1 million in cash and 200 metric tons of rice to each of the five affected districts under the Gratuitous Relief (GR) program on July 7.
He said additional allocations were approved on Thursday to strengthen the ongoing response.
The minister said Chattogram would get Tk 2.5 million, Cox’s Bazar Tk 2 million, while Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban would get Tk 1 million each.
The government allocated an additional 300 MT of rice for Chattogram, 250 MT each for Cox’s Bazar and 200 MT each for Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban.
