“Two to four platoons are expected to be on duty in each upazila. Besides, the entire 4,427 km border of the country will remain under strict surveillance during the entire election period,” Colonel SM Abul Ehsan said.
Under the Dhaka sector alone, a total of 134 platoons will be deployed in 42 temporary base camps covering 51 constituencies in nine districts and four municipal corporations, he said.
According to the official, this deployment will be done by Dhaka Battalion (5 and 26 BGB), Narayanganj Battalion (62 BGB) and Ghazipur Battalion (63 BGB).
He said that to give quick response in case of any emergency, Rapid Action Team (RAT), Quick Response Force (QRF) and helicopter units of BGB will remain on standby.
