44 people died due to floods and landslides due to heavy rains in seven districts

The death toll from floods, mountain flows and landslides has reached 44, while 39 others have been injured. A total of 267,918 families are stranded, while the number of affected individuals has reached 1,022,963.

Due to the impact of monsoon, heavy rainfall started in Chattogram area on 4 July. Over the past week, the region has recorded 1,169 mm rainfall, with the highest daily total of 412 mm recorded last Tuesday.

After the crisis in Chattogram, floods also spread to Moulvibazar and Habiganj in Sylhet division.

The ministry report confirmed that 1,131 shelters had been opened, providing shelter to 44,457 people.

Meanwhile, there has been a decline in rainfall in the last 24 hours compared to the previous two days, reducing the immediate risk of the situation worsening.
