The US Geological Survey said a 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Indonesia’s Sumatra island early Monday.

The USGS said the quake’s epicenter was 48 kilometers (30 miles) south-southeast of the city of Singkil in Aceh province at a depth of 37 kilometers.

It occurred at about 6:30 local time (2230 GMT), and USGS revised it from its initial measurement at magnitude 6.0 with a depth of 48 kilometers.

Indonesia’s Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) also put it at 6.2 and said there was no tsunami threat, while the country’s disaster agency said there were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage. .
