A rock concert titled “South Asian Rockfest” is going to take place at the Bangladesh Army Stadium on October 24, bringing together nine bands from five countries.

The Colour Compound from India, Kaya from Pakistan, Albatross from Nepal and Stigmata from Sri Lanka, as well as Bangladeshi bands including Warfaze, Aurthohin, Nemesis, Arbovirus, and Shunno, will perform at the music fest.

Grameenphone, which is organising the event, has picked up participants from its subscribers after inviting them to download its Welcome Tune. The first 6000 subscribers downloading the highest number of WT (between October 10 and 14) are supposed to get the tickets.

Indian band Colour Compound is a four-piece alternative rock band based in Mumbai. It was formed in early 2008 and has been performing in concerts and other musical events since.

The band Kaya, consisting of three musicians, offers a blend of spiritual, sufi, soft rock and ethnic and world music, drawing on the rich and diverse backgrounds of the artistes.

Albatross, a Nepalese band that addresses contemporary issues of the country, was founded in 1998. It uses guitars and conventional instruments to transcend the sound of Nepalese alternative music.

Stigmata is a Sri Lankan heavy-metal band based in Colombo, formed in 1999. The band’s style is a mix of thrash metal along with some death metal, and hard rock influences, laced with classical, Latin, jazz, blues, baila, and eastern rhythms.
