The government may name a road of the capital in the name of Humayun Ahmed, if a formal proposal is placed. LGRD and co-operative minister Sayed Ashrful Islam said this in the parliament today. He said decision of naming any road of the capital is taken from board meeting of City Corporation after the approval of the government.
Humayun Ahmed is considered as the most popular writer of modern days. He started writing from his student life and his first book was published when he was a student of Dhaka University. Later he became teacher of that university, but quitted form that job to concentrate on writing.
Bangladeshi book market and publishers was dependant on Indian writers, but Humayun Ahmed changed the scenario. He directed some popular movies and received national film award. His TV dramas were also very popular.
He died in last July while he was under treatment for colon cancer in the United States.
