The Central Working Committee of the ruling Awami League expelled Jahangir Alam from the party on November 19, 2021 after an audio clip went viral.
However, the ruling party announced amnesty for Jehangir Alam on January 21 this year after he appealed to the party high command.
He again sought the party’s nomination for the post of mayor in the upcoming GCC election but the party chose Ghazipur city Awami League president Azmat Ullah.
