After two years of break, new currency notes to be available from 20th April

Giving new currency notes as a tip to youngsters is part of Eid festival in Bangladesh. Every year, the central bank releases new currency notes to meet the demand. But the past two years were an exception. The coronavirus pandemic was the cause.

In a press release yesterday, the central bank Bangladesh Bank informed that it will release new currency notes from 20th April to 28th April. Currency note denominations include 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 taka. One can get new currency notes of 18,000 taka at most.

Central bank Motijheel branch, Sadarghat branch, and several special counters in different parts of the country will circulate new currency notes. Several public and private banks will also join the central bank in the new currency note circulating process. Central bank officials have said they are going to release twenty-three thousand crore taka and this new supply of currency notes will not cause inflation.
