Current DMP Commissioner Golam Farooq is scheduled to retire on September 30 and AIG Habibur will take over the post immediately.
AIG Habibur joined the police service in 1998 through the 17th Civil Services (BCS) examination.
Before the latest appointment, he held various important positions including Deputy Commissioner of DMP Headquarters, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dhaka District and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Dhaka Range.
