Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh has very good relations with Britain as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman reached London after the country’s independence after being released from Pakistani prison and was warmly received there.

The UK Foreign Secretary said, “The ties between Bangladesh and the UK run very deep and are only getting stronger as the days draw near and the ties have grown stronger over the years.”

He lauded the economic progress of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh has heaped praise on the late Queen Elizabeth II, recalling that the Queen always inquired about him and his younger sister Sheikh Rehana.

Momen said that Sheikh Hasina had also held talks with King Charles III during the Commonwealth leaders’ event, while she had invited the king to visit Bangladesh and the king had responded positively.

The briefing was attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohd Shahryar Alam, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Mohd Tofajzel Hossain Miya, Speechwriter to the Prime Minister M Nazrul Islam and Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Syeda Muna Tasneem, among others.
