There was no recent precedent of Russia’s foreign ministry summoning Bangladesh’s ambassador to the country. That’s why Russian news agency TASS published a report on Tuesday that said Dhaka’s ambassador to Moscow, Kamrul Ahsan, had been summoned, leaving many stunned.

The Ambassador was called in as the Russian ship, Ursa Major was not allowed to dock at Bangladeshi ports. Bangladesh detained the ship, which was carrying material for Rooppur nuclear power plant, as it is under sanctions by the US. The ship was docked at Mongla port on December 24 last year.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko summoned Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Russia Kamrul Ahsan to his office on Tuesday afternoon (Moscow time). Rudenko, regardless of the words, informed Kamrul Ahsan about the discontent of the Russian government.
