A BAF (Bangladesh Air Force) training aircraft crashed into a marsh at Tangail yesterday. Two pilots were onboard that time, one of them Pilot Officer Shariful Haque was declared dead after he was taken to combined military hospital in Ghatail. Other pilot squadron leader Muhammad Mamunur Rashid is undergoing at the same hospital and it is reported that he is ok now.
This is the fourth incident in the last three years and three pilots are killed in the process. The air space near Tangail is frequently used by the Bangladesh Air Force for training purposes.
Pilot Mamun managed to escape with parachute but other pilot Sharif was inside the aircraft tied with seat belt.
The aircraft that crashed took off from Dhaka. Local people started rescue operation after the plane crash. Later troops from Ghatail cantonment reached there. Senior air force officers visited the spot and ordered an investigation of the incident.
