Section 8 of the Ansar Battalion Bill-2023 mentions the jurisdiction and powers to be exercised by the battalion member. The section states that a member of the Ansar battalion, if any offense is committed in his presence while performing the duties specified in section 7, shall arrest the offender with the sanction of the superior officer concerned, and forthwith hand him over to him. the police and, as the case may be, in accordance with the directions of the Judicial Magistrate or Executive Magistrate or the officer concerned, search the detained person; And enter any place, search and seize goods.
According to Section 7 of the Bill, Ansar forces, as directed by the Government, shall perform duties such as ensuring public safety, responding to disasters, providing security to important government offices, key point establishments and VIPs, assisting mobile courts, will follow. The District Magistrate was sought to ensure safety of public life and properties, assist the Armed Forces, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police and carry out other responsibilities given by the government.
