The construction work of Uttara-Motijheel (MRT-6) metro rail is almost complete. It was said that the metro rail authority will restore the park to its original condition after the construction work is completed.
Instead of doing so, DMTCL is planning to build a metro rail station plaza there. DMTCL is talking about running commercial activities like shops, hotels, restaurants, cafes or entertainment centers there. In fact, some infrastructure has already been built there.
There were more than 200 trees in Anwara garden. After the metro rail construction started, all the trees were cut. There was a time when people used to rest or talk in the park. Many people used to exercise there in the morning.
Once the construction of metro rail started, the access of common people was stopped. Now if a station plaza is built there on a commercial basis, this park will disappear forever.
