The public would like to see what development has taken place in the last 14 years in the fields of politics, democracy, election system etc. The Awami League came to power with a huge majority of votes. The Awami League had never received such support from the youth after independence. I am speaking keeping 1972 in mind. But to what extent has the Awami League been able to meet the aspirations of the youth? Abrar murder in BUET, tragic death of a CUET teacher, ‘guest room’ culture in Dhaka University halls, eviction of students in Rajshahi University halls for their dissenting views, VC’s room being vandalized in Chittagong University and innumerable Govt. The misdeeds of the supported student organization are some clear examples of this.
The Awami League is holding meetings and meetings almost every day to highlight the evils of money laundering committed during the BNP regime. The point is that when the moon rises, there is no need to call people and show the moon. If people feel that their standard of living has improved during this government, that no one has to pay bribe to get service, then they will vote for Awami League.
But if they see that people are collecting money just because they are part of the Awami League, while most people are struggling to earn a living, they will look for an alternative. Awami League leaders start their speech with BNP and end with BNP. But he should realize that instead of what happened 16 years ago, people remember more the misdeeds of the recent past.
