Argentina issued a warning to Poland on Tuesday ahead of their final World Cup Group C match on Wednesday, saying they may have slipped and faltered in their first two group matches but are still in peak form. Have not arrived.

The two-time world champions had to rely on superstar Lionel Messi to keep their qualification hopes alive after a shock 2-1 defeat at the hands of low-ranked Saudi Arabia.

He masterminded a 2–0 win over Mexico, scoring his first goal with a superb finish to get their campaign back on track.

The illustrious Argentina, one of the tournament favourites, are playing their fifth and final campaign, which means their last chance to equal the late Diego Maradona and lift the sport’s biggest trophy.

“Everything comes down to the details,” Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez said Tuesday. “We saw it with Messi’s goal. The match before (against Mexico) was very tight.”
