“This World Cup is tough. Travel, heat, pitches, grass… sometimes the ball doesn’t rotate well. There are so many factors that make it hard to really show your superiority.”
When things get tough, as they did in his last game for Argentina, Scaloni believes his team will find a way even if they are not playing well.
“In a match, when things are not going your way or the opponent is making things difficult, you can resort to patience, intensity, that spirit which is in our DNA,” he said.
“And that’s something that this team has. Then you can play better or worse, but when you don’t play well, you need all that. Otherwise, you are out. I believe if we didn’t support our character in the last match, we would be out.”
