Armed men attacked a Pakistan Air Force training base on Saturday and damaged three aircraft, the military said, with a group linked to the Pakistani Taliban claiming responsibility.

A military statement said three were killed before they could enter the base, while three other attackers were “detonated/separated”.

Tehreek-e-Jihad Pakistan (TJP), a newly emerged terrorist group that is an ally of the domestic Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) movement, claimed responsibility in a statement to the media.

This comes after 14 soldiers were killed in an attack on their convoy in Balochistan province and six civilians were killed when a police van was targeted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

The latest attack took place early Saturday morning in Mianwali town of central Punjab province near the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border.
