The Army, Navy, Air Force, RAB and BGB have joined efforts to put out the fire at Dhaka New Super Market adjacent to New Market in the capital.
They are working with the fire service to bring the blaze under control.
The ISPR said firefighters from the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force were involved in dousing the blaze. Air Force helicopters have been kept ready.
12 patrol teams and five teams in plain clothes of RAB Dhaka Battalion are working to assist the Fire Service and to maintain traffic order and law and order.
