He added, “We haven’t received anything beyond that yet.”
While working as a prosecutor, Mohammad Saimm Reza Talukdar had negotiated with a relative of Fazle Karim Chowdhury. He resigned from the tribunal on 9 March, a day before the publication of the report in Prothom Alo.
By profession, Saimm Reza was an academic and taught at a private university.
He was appointed as a prosecutor when the interim government reconstituted the International Criminal Tribunal to try murders committed during the July Uprising.
According to the family of former Awami League MP from Chattogram-6 (Raozan) ABM Fazle Karim Choudhary, Saimam Reza Talukdar had first contacted them in April last year, almost two months after Choudhary’s arrest, and claimed that he could get bail in exchange for money.
