If seen district wise, independent candidates are showing their strength in Mymensingh, Narsingdi, Ghazipur, Shariatpur, Madaripur, Faridpur, Barishal, Pirojpur, Jashore, Kushtia, Chattogram and Rajshahi, which is a matter of concern for the Awami League leaders.
Meanwhile, sources say senior party leaders, Members of Parliament and Awami League alliance partners have called for the withdrawal of independent candidature. But Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has clearly said that independent parties are needed for the voting percentage. No one will be pressured to withdraw his candidature.
