Bangladesh registered a comprehensive 8-wicket win against Sri Lanka with 11 balls to spare in the second T20 International at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday to level the three-match series 1-1.
Chasing the target of 166, Bangladeshi openers Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar hit a flurry of boundaries and scored 63 runs in the powerplay. The openers made the Lankan bowlers impotent by scoring 46 runs in the first six overs with the help of 10 fours and one over.
However, Soumya saved herself from being caught by taking a review in the fourth over. Sri Lankan players objected to the TV umpire's decision and began to surround the on-field umpire after a spike in ultra-edge was seen. However, when the spike appeared there was a gap between the bat and the ball and the TV umpire overturned the on-field umpire's decision. This decision will definitely give rise to a lot of debate and will add another issue to the list of controversies in the matches between the two countries.
