Bangladesh is getting a soft loan of US$ 300 million from the World Bank. This loan is for Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED for a road maintenance project. The project is called the Rural Transport Improvement-II (RTIP-II) project for the next fiscal year.
The money will be discharged under certain condition based on performance. One condition is that the respective contractor will have to repair any pothole or crack within 24 to 72 hours of report or el se he will not get his full payment.
Often it is seen that contractors quits after a year of maintenance or so.
A total of 450 Km of road will be under the project.
