It added that following proposals from private medical and dental colleges, the division took the decision to hike fees in a meeting chaired by Health Minister Zahid Malek.
Bangladesh has 37 government medical colleges with 4,350 seats. There are 6,489 seats in 72 private medical colleges in the country. Admissions in five other private medical colleges have been suspended.
In 2022, 139,742 students took the common entrance exam, which means there were 13 candidates for each seat.
This year the exams will be held on March 10.
