Sayeeda Muna Tasneem questioned, “I wanted to ask you how important or integral Bangladesh is to India’s foreign policy, especially in pursuing its security, regional connectivity, shared prosperity.”
In response, Jaishankar highlighted collaborative efforts in restructuring the neighbourhood, citing substantial achievements in resolving territorial disputes.
“We have finalized our land border with Bangladesh, which is really a big thing. There were differences on our maritime border. We went for mediation. So at least, it is a very good example for some other regions and countries,” Jaishankar said, emphasizing commitment to diplomatic solutions.
The External Affairs Minister also acknowledged the transformational changes in the last decade, citing the inauguration of two rail lines and a power plant connecting India and Bangladesh. India’s strategic use of Bangladeshi ports to the Northeast and the mutual benefits of energy supply through pipelines exemplify the depth of the relationship.
