The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission has removed the floor price for 169 troubled stocks, as the first step to completely lift the limit amid a steady fall in share prices.
In a notice on Wednesday, the regulator said the circuit breaker or downward price change limit for 169 scrips would be 1 per cent based on the reference price or the previous day’s closing price.
BSEC spokesperson Mohammad Rezaul Karim said that the regulator has prepared the list from the low turnover category, which will not have much impact on the market.
The commission is hopeful that after the new rules come into effect on Thursday, trading in these stocks will increase and investors will get a chance to diversify their portfolios.
