During a press conference at the Awami League’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital this afternoon, Quader also stressed that efforts were underway at the international level to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
“We do not want to get involved in war with anyone, including Myanmar. Our approach is to resolve any issue through dialogue. If any dispute arises with Myanmar, we will draw the attention of the United Nations. There are international forums for these discussions and the United Nations has a role to play in this,” he expressed.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges highlighted that the incidents taking place on the Myanmar border are internal but have escalated, with mortar rounds affecting Bangladesh and resulting in the death of two people in Bangladesh territory. The matter may include summoning Myanmar’s ambassador to Bangladesh for discussions, and further decisions will be announced in due course.
