Latham said that the decision to bat first was influenced by the expectation that the pitch would slow down later.

“It looks a pretty good surface, a bit dry, and it’s a one-day game so it will potentially be slow later on,” he said. “We’ve got three genuine seamers, a left-arm bowler and a couple of all-rounders. The boys are raring to go. There have been some hot days, but we’ll take it for what Bangladesh have done for us.”
