The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) has decided not to send the men’s football team to this year’s Asian Games in view of the team’s recent poor performance.
The BoA took the decision after a meeting on Saturday where they decided not to send the Jamal Bhuiyan-led team to Hangzhou in China for the Games to be held from September 23 to October 8.
After the meeting, AK Sarkar, Bangladesh’s Chef de Mission at the Asian Games and BOA’s treasurer, told Prothom Alo that the association would send a women’s football team to the event, but not the men’s team, which reached the second round in the last Asian Games. Jamal’s late strike gives Qatar a 1-0 shock.
