23 year old Bangladeshi cricketer Shohag Gazi is Banned by ICC as their experts think his bowling action is illegal according to ICC standards. Shohag Gazi is mainly an off spin bowler but he is also a worthy player as a batsman, he has a test century under his belt.
Shohag was suspected in the recent series against West Indies and his bowling action was tested in Cardiff last month.
According to ICC rule a bowler’s elbow flex must be within 15 degrees. Shohag says he was asked to bowl six overs during the test and he was said that his elbow flex seems to be well within 15 degrees. After receiving ICC decision Bangladesh Cricket Board officials say Shohag’s flex is around 25 degrees and Bangladesh will not appeal against the decision. But cricket board will assist Shohag to improve his bowling action and after that he can reappear in similar test so that he can comeback in cricket again.
ICC has been strict against illegal bowling actions but some critics say ICC hasn’t been equally strict against bowlers from influential cricketing nations like England, Australia and India.
