The youth-oriented film tells the story of a rich father, who makes his spoiled son face a challenge and sets him out on the streets of Dhaka
For the first time, a Bangladeshi film, which was not a joint venture project, saw its commercial release in India on Friday at Mumbai’s Anand Chitra Mandir in Ratnagiri area.
The film “Boishommo”, alternatively styled “Journey to the Heart”, is a 120-minute feature film directed by Adam Dawla.
The youth-oriented film tells the story of a rich father, who makes his spoiled son face a challenge and sets him out on the streets of Dhaka. Spending a few days on the streets, the boy not only suffers under harsh conditions but also learns about the living conditions and mindset of the common people in his city.
Show Motion Ltd, who run the Star Cineplex in Dhaka, has exported the film to India as part of an exchange programme with Indian film “Roar: Tigers of the Sunderbans”, an extraordinary Indian film partially shot in the Sundarbans in Bangladesh. The film was imported from India.
Abir Hossain Ankon donned the central character of the film while Sajjad Hossain Rony, Adam Dawla and Mita Chowdhury formed other major casts. Released in Bangladesh on March 21 this year, Boishommo marks the advent of specialised film-making in Bangladesh.
From the acting to cinematography to background score and ambient sound, everything in the film demonstrates the director’s intention to make a film that boards as a rare example in the Bangladeshi cinema industry.
