Laiju Begum, Deepali’s younger sister, said, “The Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have contacted us to confirm the return of the body. Even though it is late, the fact that we will get my sister’s body is a relieving news for us. If we can complete the airport procedures and receive the body by 2 am, we will leave for our home that night.”
MD Ashiq Siddiqui, assistant director of the Faridpur Migrant Welfare Centre, said it took some time to bring back the body due to the war situation and irregular flight operations.
Once in the country, the body will be sent to his village home by a free ambulance under government management. The family will be given additional financial assistance of Taka 35,000 and later Taka 300,000 for burial at the airport.
