Bangladesh’s per capita income, GDP growth misses estimates

According to the last data released by the National Statistics Agency, Bangladesh is set to record gross national per capita income of $2,793 in 2021-22 – $31 less than the government forecast.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics said on Sunday that the GDP growth rate was 7.1 percent, which was 0.15 percent less than the estimate.

The government’s provisional estimate for the last fiscal year was $2,824 per capita income and 7.25 percent GDP growth.

Ziauddin Ahmed, a director of the BBS, said the devaluation of the taka against the dollar has reduced per capita income.
