While stranded in the Persian Gulf for four months, many sailors aboard various ships went into shock, some even lost their lives, yet no one came forward to provide them medical treatment. At that time, many ships ran out of food and water, while some even sank while attempting to transit the strait.

The Bangladesh-flagged ship Banglar Joyjatra ran aground in the Strait of Hormuz during the war between Iran and the United States and Israel. After 3 months and 25 days the ship transited the Strait of Hormuz on the night of 23 June. Returning home today, the ship’s captain Mohammad Shafiqul Islam told about the troubles he faced while stuck there.
