National Women’s Football Team Captain Sabina Khatoon spoke on the occasion on behalf of the awardees.
Initially, an audio-visual documentary on the life and works of Bangamata was screened.
To commemorate Bangmata’s contribution, up to five women are honored every year for their contribution in eight fields.
Earlier, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs had nominated the national women’s football team and four prominent women for this year’s award in recognition of their contribution to the country’s politics, education, culture, sports and research.
The Prime Minister also inaugurated financial donation and sewing machine distribution program at the function. A total of 4,500 sewing machines are being distributed in 64 districts, while 2,000 takas are being distributed among 3,000 destitute women.
