Shamim Hossain's explosive innings went in vain as Fortune Barishal entered the final of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after defeating Rangpur Riders by 6 wickets in the second qualifier match.
In reply to Rangpur's 149 for seven, Barishal won with nine balls to spare thanks to veteran Mushfiqur Rahim's unbeaten 47 off 38 balls and two useful innings from Kyle Mayers and David Miller.
Mayers scored 28 runs in 15 balls and David Miller remained unbeaten on 22 runs in 18 balls.
Earlier, Fortune Barishal won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rangpur were in trouble right from the start as in-form Mohammad Saifuddin took the wickets of Mahedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan in the second over. Due to loss of wickets at regular intervals, Rangpur's score became 77 runs for 7 wickets inside the 15th over.
