The defendants in the case are Banaripara Upazila Awami League joint secretary Subrata Lal Kundu, vice president Mustafa Sardar, upazila council vice president and upazila Awami League organizing secretary Nurul Huda, Mamunur Rashid and joint general secretary Professor MD Zakir Hussain. All of them are considered to be followers of Barishal-2 (Banaripara-Ujirpur) MP Mohammad Shahe Alam.
According to party sources, on October 3, Upazila Awami League President MD Golam Farooq and General Secretary Moulad Hussain issued a show cause notice against MP Shahe Alam. Later, district Awami League president Abul Hasnat Abdullah and general secretary Talukdar Mohammad Yunus issued a show cause notice against the two leaders for taking such a step against a party MP without informing higher authorities.

In his complaint, he claimed that the five leaders including him did not sign the press release. He said that the name has been added fraudulently. In the case, one of the five leaders has been made the plaintiff and the rest have been made witnesses. They are Banaripara Upzilla Awami League Agriculture and Cooperative Society Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Treasurer Saiful Islam and member Selim Sardar, freedom fighters Shahjahan Khan and Mizanur Rahman.
