Manchester United ended Liverpool’s perfect record at Anfield on Sunday, holding the Premier League title-chasing side to a 0-0 draw after wins over Arsenal and Aston Villa.
Jurgen Klopp’s side came into this match looking to inflict further pain on their arch-rivals having made it 11 wins from 11 games in all competitions domestically this season.
Liverpool dominated possession, gaining almost 70 per cent of the possession and had 34 shots to United’s six, but could not break down their stubborn opponents.
Klopp’s side finished the day in second place in the table, one point behind Arsenal on 39 points, after the Gunners beat Brighton 2–0.
The result was a moral victory for embattled United manager Eric ten Hag, whose team suffered a 7-0 defeat at Anfield last season and came into the match on the back of 12 defeats in 24 games in the current campaign.
