It is not unusual for a new government to reshuffle people in various important positions. But the way outgoing Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansoor was removed recently was not worth it. He could have been given a more respectable farewell.
The day before yesterday, the outgoing Governor had met the new Finance Minister. Then it seemed that there would be continuity in the post of Governor. Yesterday the outgoing Governor also held a press conference. Then, in the afternoon, he learned that he was no longer the governor. It would have been better if he had been told during the meeting with the Finance Minister the previous day that the Governor was going to be changed.
