In a press release yesterday the BCB explained its stance on the matter. The statement said that the NSC has recently published a gazette which mentions the investigation of the last election. The BCB said that the current board was elected in a completely democratic process and in accordance with its own constitution. Since assuming office, he has been conducting all the activities regularly. In such a situation, the sudden decision to form this inquiry committee has raised questions on the independence and stability of the board.

The statement said that as a full member of the ICC, the board operates within the global governance framework of international cricket. According to ICC rules, any third party or government interference in the affairs of the elected cricket board is strictly prohibited. Such a move could lead to investigation or disciplinary action under the ICC’s governance and compliance policies.
