Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan, a three-member national team selection panel led by chief selector Minhajul Abedin and BCB cricket operations chief Jalal Yunus gathered for ‘regular discussions’ at the BCB president’s office in Dhanmandi on Tuesday afternoon.
The BCB president usually sits down with the selectors before the squad is announced for a series. In this sense, this meeting was not an ordinary thing.
But even ‘routine discussion’ does not always follow a set routine and the surrounding situation may add an additional layer on top of it.
The selectors are expected to announce the 20-21 member squad for the Asia Cup soon. Tuesday’s ‘regular discussion’ should have primarily focused on that. But another thing overshadowed it – what would be Tamim Iqbal’s future in the national team?
