The new academic year begins today, January 1, with a major change in secondary education as Science, Arts and Vocational study groups will not exist in Class 9.
Although the distribution of free books has started in educational institutions across the country from today, the printing of about 2.5 crore books for classes 8th and 9th has not been completed. In such a situation, not all students will get books on the first day of the academic year.
Last year the new syllabus was introduced in classes I, VI and VII. This year (2024) the new curriculum is being started in four more classes. Classes are II, III, VIII and IX.
The new syllabus will be introduced in classes IV, V and X next year. Later, a new syllabus will be introduced in XI in 2026 and XII in 2027.
According to the new system, students will have to study 10 general subjects till class 10th.
