“I think we are adapting really well. The experience of Sri Lanka and Pakistan last year has put us in a really good position for India, nobody is going there blind.

“We will probably use the next few weeks to reflect on the past 12 months, and then come back really refreshed and keen.

“I think we have as good a chance as we’re ever going to be.”

Australia have won only four Test series in India in three quarters of a century of touring the country, the last coming in 2004.

Cummins said Australia would field multiple bowling options for the matches to be held in Nagpur, New Delhi, Dharamsala and Ahmedabad.

Left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who missed the Sydney Test due to a finger injury, is unlikely to be fit for the first Test in early February, Cummins said.
