Blitz is an English weekly published from Dhaka since 2003. Its editor Salahuddin Shoeb Chowdhury is arrested by police from his residence on Wednesday. His business partner Sajjad Hossain has filed a case bringing allegation of embezzlement of seventy nine lakh taka.
Editor Salahuddin Shoeb Chowdhury is sent to jail by a Dhaka court after he was placed before that court.
Blitz became a discussed weekly in last September when it published serial report on so called love affair between Pakistani foreign minister Hina Rabbani and president’s son Bilawal Bhutto.
This news created sensation in the sub continent; many media mentioned Blitz as their source of news. Later it was refused by Hina’s husband; he told media that, it is totally a baseless report.
This arrest comes before visit of Pakistani foreign minister in Dhaka. Hena left Dhaka this evening after her five hour visit. She came here to invite the Bangladeshi prime minister to the upcoming D-8 summit to be held in Pakistan later this month.
