A blogger of Egypt Alber Sabe is sentenced to three year imprisonment for blasphemy and contempt of religion. He is alleged to circulate the controversial anti Islam video ‘Innocence of Islam’. Few months ago another female blogger created controversy by posting her half naked photo on her blog. She argued that she did it to support freedom of speech and freedom of women.
Many quarters of Egypt including Coptic Christians, liberals and secularists fear that ruling Islamists are against freedom of speech. Number of legal action alleging blasphemy has increased after the fall of President Hosni Mubarak.
There are allegations that outsiders are trying to change regime by cyber activism.
Young generation love the power of internet by which they can raise their voice. But many are questioning how misuse of ‘freedom of speech’ can be stopped.
