Northern part of Bangladesh always become worst affected during the time of winter season. A lots of poor people get problem to survive in the winter. Government has taken steps to solve this problem. By the way of helping poor people, the administration has started distribution of 25,500 pieces blankets allocated by the Food and Disaster Management Ministry among the cold-hit destitute people of all the eight districts in Rangpur division.
Officials here today told BSS that the government has allocated the quality blankets for the destitute people in a bid to mitigate their sufferings from the ongoing mild cold bite in these sub-Himalayan districts.
Four thousand blankets have been allocated for each of the districts of Rangpur and Kurigram, 3,500 for Dinajpur, 3,000 each for Gaibandha, Nilphamari and Panchagarh and 2,500 each for Lalmonirhat and Thakurgaon.
The district administrations through the District Relief and Rehabilitation Offices have allocated the blankets in favour of all 58 upazila administrations. The authorities have been distributing the blankets with the assistance of the public representatives among the cold-hit people.
